TEAM BUILDING DAY!

What does it mean to be a team? That was what we were trying to figure out last Wednesday! We played games outside ALL day! The games were so fun! We had to cooperate and talk a lot about what a good team has to do.  We did a few activities inside, but mostly outside. It was a long, fun day exploring kindness, team work, patience, and taking turns.

Here were our activities...
Don't wake the dragon: We had to arrange ourselves in order from shortest to tallest in order to escape from the dragon (Miss Lloyd). We didn't want to wake the dragon so we had to do it without talking!

Blindfolded obstacle course: We led a friend through an obstacle course while they were blindfolded. We had to use only our words to give directions. It took a lot of patience, cooperation, and trust! We did a great job!
Eva leading Connor
Emily leading Isabel
Isabel leading Thomas

Kaylee leading Addison. And check out Miss Amy's crazy hair!!

Noella leading Emily

Elsa leading Noella

Braylynn leading Nathaniel

Hannah leading Elsa

Addison leading Braylynn

Zola leading Hannah

Alden leading Addison

Dawson leading Zola

Connor leading Alden

1-2-3-4!: This game is like rock, paper, scissors. We count to 4 quickly and on 4 we all put our hands out with any number of fingers from 0-4. As a team, we are trying to get 11 fingers total. It was fun and we did great!
11!!!

Some great teamwork!

So close!

1-2-3-4!

A great team!

Egg relay race: We used real eggs on the pavement and plastic spoons. The goal: get all your teammates through the relay first! The catch: if your egg fell you had to go all the way back and get a new one!

Zola lost her egg! It went FAR!

Circle of silence (with a gem): One person stands in the middle with their eyes closed and the rest of us pass a plastic box with a gem in it around the cirlce. The gem makes a lot of noise when it moves so we had to move it carefully. If the person in the middle hears the gem, they point to where they hear it! We tried to get it all the way around without getting caught!
Nathaniel is in the middle and Kaylee is carefully passing the box.

We also played a few tag games to practice patience, kindness, and team work! Blob tag was one of our favorites, but we got frustrated easily. We had to stop often and talk about how to work as a team.

We even had snack outside and talked about our morning. We shared something we had noticed about the morning, what worked, and what we could do better to be a team.

We read two books: What Are You So Grumpy About? by Tom Lightenheld
and One by Kathryn Otoshi.

We learned a lot on our team building day! Since this day we have been working on bringing all that we learned about being a kind team who works together into our classroom and all that we do!
