This week is I LOVE TO READ WEEK! Today, Miss Lloyd read Oh, The Places You'll Go! During reader's workshop we made Dr. Seuss balloons and we wrote about what we want to be when we grow up! This week, on Thursday is Dr. Seuss's Birthday! We will be reading a lot of Dr. Seuss books this week. We had a lot of fun in music. We learned music notes up to eight. Yesterday was Kacie's Birthday! Happy Birthday, Kacie! We celebrated with cookies during lunch. Thanks Kacie!!

Science-States of Matter

We have been learning about the states of matter: liquids, solids, and gases. We have been exploring some pretty fun materials and deciding if they are liquids or solids. We discovered that sometimes it's not so easy! We learned that when solids and liquids combine they form colloids like toothpaste, shaving cream, and glook!
Bryson deciding if glook is a solid or a liquid.

Grant pretending to eat the shaving cream!

Griffin exploring glook!

Josh stirring the shaving cream.

Jack deciding if shaving cream is a solid or liquid...hmmm...

Kacie exploring sand!

Miss Meghan and Zayah having fun exploring shaving cream!

Miss Lloyd's mom, Jen came to help out with science!

Owen liked the feel of the glook!

Wow the glook can stay in a ball!

Silly sandy first graders!

Groundhog Day

Groundhog day in first grade was a lot of fun! We got to pet a real groundhog and made a craft to take home!

We did a little writing on Groundhog Day! Most of us wanted spring to come early-I guess that's not likely!

Thanks Oliver for sharing the groundhog with us!

100th Day of School!!

We had fun filled 100th day of first grade!!

100 Reasons Why We LOVE Westshire and First Grade!!

We tried to build a sponge tower with 100 sponge pieces-it wasn't easy!

Grant brought in a great necklace with 100 froot loops!
