Merry Christmas!

Our post is a little late but we had to share that before vacation we had a surprise Christmas party with second grade! We watched a Christmas movie, decorated cookies and made a tree craft! It was so much fun!

First graders also made a bunch of tree crafts! We did doubles and word families!

Christmas came early in 1st grade!

Today we opened a gift from Miss Nancy and Miss Lloyd! We had to wait all day and earn five “oh yeahs” for good listening and learning but we did it and boy were we excited!! 900 new Legos for choice time creations!

What’s in the box?!
LEGOS!

We were a bit excited!

Some silliness and a few creations from today!

It's the Doubles!

This week we started learning about the doubles. Doubles are addition facts with the same addend. Here's our doubles rap that we have been practicing.

Check out our paintings! We picked which number we wanted to double, painted that many objects and then folded it over to show the total.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a fun week talking about Thanksgiving traditions, family time, and all the things in our lives we have to be thankful for! Today playing games with our grandparents was so much fun!

Today was our Harvest Luncheon! We all had the opportunity to eat a Thanksgiving meal in the gym as a whole school. At the end of lunch, we recited a poem called Five Little Turkeys. Take a look!

Our ABC Kindness Project

We have been reading authors Mo Willems and Kevin Henkes and studying what these authors do to make their books special. These are called an author's craft moves! Miss Lloyd was blown away when we were able to make the following charts about each author. What careful readers and listeners we are! We are going to be writing our own class ABC book all about Kindness and we are planning to mimic these authors we have been learning about. Stay tuned for an invitation to our book reveal!

Our very rough draft. Here are our ideas so far for each letter of the book.

Salad Time!

A big shout out to Makenna for joining us on Friday to harvest the lettuce from our school garden! Thank's so much for planting lettuce for us to enjoy! It was delicious and we had so much fun making salad with you!
Looking at our lettuce!

Closing our eyes and trying lettuce right from the garden, focusing on the taste and texture.

Time to harvest!

Time to wash it!

Looking at how amazing nature can be!

The spinners were fun to use!

Bon Appetit! Most of us really liked the salad!
